Robin Reasoner

Judge for the 2018 Laughing Frog Farm Sheepdog Trial

Robin Reasoner from Missouri

Robin Reasoner comes to us from the St. Louis area of Missouri.

She has been involved with training animals beginning in her youth on the Iowa family farm and spent many years in 4H.  Robin currently has a few acres south of St Louis, keeping enough sheep to offer lessons & demonstrations; with a few ducks & chickens to keep herself and the dogs in eggs!  She has always had a dog; a constant companion on the farm as a child; a hiking and running partner in her early adult years.  Robin’s love of herding began in 1998 with her first Border Collie, Mac.

Her current K9 family is Hawke, BJ, Trim & Maggie; & of course, Tiny!

Her border collies, Hawke, Trim & BJ trial at the Open level and Robin enjoys training & becoming a team with each of her dogs. She has traveled the Midwest to trials; branching east last year to set sheep & compete at a trial in Georgia.

Robin trialed a few years in cattle trials; qualifying several dogs for the Finals.  A highlight was Hawke’s 6th  place finish in the USBCHA Cattle Finals 2013.

As Team Reasoner, the set-out crew, they have been privileged to set at a number of trials, including the prestigious Bluegrass Classic in Lexington Kentucky and WWSDA Labor Day Trial in Hudson Wisconsin.  Trim also competed in the Labor Day trial last year, managing to get into the Double Lift competition!

Robin has had the incredible fortune to train with some of the best – both widely known individuals and everyday farmers & ranchers.  She gives thanks for the knowledge, kindness and encouragement each has afforded to her & her dogs.

Robin is Prospect Herding & K9 Fitness. She offers:

  • Herding lessons/clinics, demonstrations, trial set-out, training & farm sitting
  • Designs & teaches K9 fitness programs; certified FitPAWS Master Trainer®

Judging & teaching allows her to give back and to grow the Love of these Dogs! Laughing Frog Farm is honored and excited to have such an accomplished handler judging and offering advice at our 2018 trial.

Her advice to the Novice/Ranch handlers, “Enjoy the journey & the friendships you make along the way!”
